In the News: Louisville’s JCC
Louisville Business First shared new renderings as part of a feature story of the Jewish Community Center (JCC) we’re designing for the Jewish Community of Louisville.
“For over 130 years, the JCC has been a true community center, welcoming our entire community in and turning no one away,” Sarah Klein Wagner, president, and CEO of the JCC, said when the project broke ground in October 2020. “As we continue to serve children, families, and seniors through our many community programs, our new campus will provide a modern, open, and accessible facility to gather in ways that have never been previously possible.”
The new multi-purpose center will serve future generations of Louisville’s Jewish and Metro communities. The design strategy supports the core experiences at the center of the JCC’s mission: the Jewish Learning Center; fitness and aquatics; and social programming, such as a theater and cafe.
The renderings shared in Louisville Business First provide a first look at of some of the spaces that will support JCC programming, like the Early Learning Center classrooms in the education wing of the building. “The Early Learning Center is a bright uplifting environment,” says Christopher Yost, part of GBBN’s design team for the project. “We organized this part of the building around an internal courtyard that brings daylight deep into the classrooms and common areas.”
Currently under construction, the project is scheduled to be complete in early 2022.
