Meet Our New Associates!
GBBN recently recognized the leadership of sixteen employees who not only do their jobs exceptionally well, but whose thoughtful action cultivates excellence in others. They include the following:
Chris Bartell connects the dots of research, process, and design to ensure optimization of project opportunities. He is a great communicator and collaborator who balances action with design expertise, empathy, and understanding.
Mindy Coblentz is an experienced healthcare project manager and brought a broad background of project design and delivery expertise to GBBN when she joined us earlier this year. Mindy relishes the complexity of details in healthcare projects while maintaining sight of a project’s big picture goals.
Greg Coni bridges design and medical planning with project architecture to ensure project goals are met. He uses speaking and research opportunities to advance sustainability strategies and advocates for emerging professionals both internally and externally.
Josh Duddey is a strong advocate for design quality from concept through construction and seeks out opportunities to share lessons learned and mentor others. He is proactive in addressing challenging design issues and facilitates effective discussions toward resolution.
Shan Jiang joined GBBN earlier this year as our Director of Research and has conducted and published a substantial body of research on the relationship between people and their environment, therapeutic landscapes, healthcare design, and sustainable community development. Her most recent research article was published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.
Tyler Little brought a decade of experience in project and program management when he joined GBBN this year in the role as Director of In4mation, our facilities information management division. People driven and results focused, Tyler creates opportunities for colleagues and clients to thrive.
Heidi Lofton came to GBBN as an experienced interior designer and project leader in healthcare work. Her passion for problem solving and connecting with the people who use the spaces she makes inspires her design work and those she works with.
Sarah Kusuma Rubritz is an emerging thought leader on the topic of academic libraries. Through her work on firmwide initiatives like digital technology and our Design Issues Series, she synthesizes current best practices for the benefit of the firm.
Ted Madden
leads with curiosity, formulating key questions and multiple design solutions as projects move from concept to completion. An integral part of our Design Issues Series execution team, Ted is committed to creating design excellence by advancing our technology and fabrication approach.
Kirsten Miller confidently takes a leadership role defining processes for collecting and reporting research and sharing it with clients and the healthcare industry through new speaking and publishing platforms. She looks beyond conventional thinking to surface thoughtful and creative solutions.
Mel Ngami motivates colleagues to do their best and push their use of creative design tools. She brings her passion, skills, and curiosity to the next generation of architects by speaking to middle and high-school students about design and co-leading Project Pipeline summer camps for the National Organization of Minority Architects, Pittsburgh.
Pete Salmon is highly regarded inside and outside GBBN for his technical expertise and commitment to quality. Pete’s passion for coaching, mentoring, and teaching allows him to explain concepts clearly, and create informed, curious project teams.
Julia Schenk brings over 15 years of experience in healthcare operations to GBBN. A passionate advocate for how design can transform the way care is delivered, Julia fosters collaboration between designers and clients to meet operational goals and promote the wellbeing of patients and families.
Anne Schwab is an ongoing champion of Fitwel, WELL, and other sustainable and resilient design strategies with both colleagues and clients. She is a strong advocate for documentation quality and doing things the right way regardless of external challenges.
Claire Shafer skillfully executes multiple roles on different design teams and has quickly built trust with clients and colleagues through expert project presentation and organization. She seizes opportunities to take on larger leadership roles and develops tools to advance our design process.
Chas Wiederhold is an outstanding collaborator whose enthusiasm, optimism, and confidence uplifts clients and design colleagues. A motivator and influencer both within and outside of GBBN, Chas inspires and empowers others to do their best work.
