GBBN Wins Two Marketing Communication Awards

The Society for Marketing Processional Services (SMPS), the national organization for marketing professionals who work in architecture, construction, and engineering, recently hosted their annual Marketing Communications Awards (MCAs) Program and GBBN was honored with two MCAs!

Holiday Piece – Print (Award of Excellence)
Our 2023 client holiday gift Trail Mixed: Music for the Road aimed to capture the spirit of renewal. Employees shared memorable road trips and the songs that powered them through driving, biking, and hiking. We collected tales, tunes, and photos and created an in-house made book. It included a  Spotify playlist of all the shared songs. To accompany the book and playlist, we worked with local sustainability entrepreneur and fabricator, Rosie Kovacs, of Sew Valley, to create upcycled tote bags crafted from discarded jeans donated to Goodwill Industries. The jury appreciated the creativity, local partnership, and commitment to sustainability. As one juror commented: “Every piece of it captures the message of renewal: recycled and recyclable materials and a playlist that recycles being digital. Every bag is one-of-a-kind, the stories are uplifting and personable. The book’s layout is engaging, the colors are warm to set the summer mood. Clients will forever have something to refer to every year to bring on summer!”

Promotional Campaign – Digital (Merit Award)
GBBN received an MCA for our promotional campaign for Willkommen, a highly anticipated affordable housing project. Our  effort to promote this project highlighted the firm’s affordable housing work locally and nationally, built trust with current and future clients, and destigmatized affordable housing – showing that it can make a positive contribution to its neighborhood – and that our designers can help make that happen. The jurors were impressed with the planning, messaging, and execution of this campaign. As one juror noted, “Through effective storytelling, leveraging third-party publications, and a focus on positioning employees as thought leaders, it significantly raised brand awareness and challenged stereotypes around affordable housing. Impressive ROI and engagement metrics further demonstrate the campaign’s success.”

Thank you to the jurors and to SMPS for recognizing our marketing excellence this year. You can learn more about our winning entries and see all the honorees over at the SMPS MCA website.
